HR technology in 2020 has developed at a rapid speed over the past year to meet the changing needs of businesses and many HR professionals have started to adapt to the core HR technology systems. HR technology is referred to as the software and associated hardware technology used for automating the human resources function in organizations or in other words tools that the HR managers use to deliver a better employee experience. HR software can securely store data, automate everyday processes, and offer analytical tools to drive more strategic decision-making. HR functions broadly comprises talent acquisition and management, benefits administration, employee payroll and compensation, workforce analytics and performance management. Automating these HR functions not only saves business time and capital but also reduces opportunities for human error, limiting obligation and avoiding mistakes from taking place.

HR Technology Trends:

Looking at the HR technology trends on the prospect for 2021, we grasp a strong influence of the former years and ongoing transition towards digital transformation. Some of technology trends are as follows:

  • AI technology in Recruiting: Application of artificial intelligence to the talent acquisition and management process, where a software applies machine learning algorithms to shortlist an ideal candidate and automate manual tasks in the recruitment process.
  • Digital Transformation: Digital transformation for HR is the process of changing operational HR processes to automated and data-driven processes. It leads to a rise in self-service tools like automated onboarding and workflows and also automated tools for accounting, communication, and management.
  • Remote Working Advancements: Due to pandemic, almost all the companies have been forced to change their customs and adopt a 100% digital routine improved to have employees work from home. Some of the technologies that helps to work remotely includes communication between teams (Microsoft teams), platforms for meeting (Zoom), platform for remote support (TeamViewer) and many more.
  • Performance Management: Performance management is a continuous and integrated process. HR Technology enables managers and employees to check in regularly, generating a cycle of expectation-setting and feedback. Managers will be able to be more specific in their expectations while employees will be more aware of their performance. Examples: Inspire, trakstar, betterworks etc.
  • Data Privacy: Employee data needs to be protected safe and secure and businesses should take data security seriously. HR tools should be swift and steady when it comes to protecting sensitive identifying information. HR Technology should preserve documents centralized and organized. Meanwhile, functions such as digital signature can keep contracts and pay slips secure.
  • Digital Learning, Training, & Development: The practice of digital tools for learning continues to be an area of great potential in an organization. Online employee training is a common alternative training method to the traditional, learning management systems especially in the current situation. Some of the tools for L&D practices include Adobe Captivate Prime, absorb, Mindflash, SAP Litmos etc.
